"When George Martin received his pharmacy degree from the University of California in 1903, he was presented the diploma by U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt, who conducted the ceremonies at Berkeley that day in 1903. ... Shortly after the turn of the century when his father took ill, George Jr. took over management of the [Martin Drug] complany, with Andrew and their sister Mary assisting and brother Louis clerking. ...George Sr. died in 1907 and by that time George Jr. had acquired Crystal Bottling Works. He remained president of the Martin Drug Co. and for 50 years, until retiring in 1957, had the franchise for bottling Coca Cola. ... George Jr. served the Arizona Board of Pharmacy for a number of years and was one of the original directors in the establishment of the Tucson Medical Center Hospital. ..."
