Arizona Daily Star, October 12, 2003: Dr. William J. Liccione. Born January 11, 1922 in Brooklyn, NY and passed away peacefully September 19, 2003. He graduated from Columbia University and The New York University College of Medicine. He then served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corp. He practiced medicine in New York until moving to Tucson in 1955, practicing medicine at the V.A. Hospital, Pima County General Hospital and The Pima County Health Dept until retiring. He was a doctor in the purest sense. Dr. Liccione practiced in Tucson for 35 years and touched many lives. He was a loving brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He loved listening to and playing music and enjoying the outdoors from the mountains to the oceans with his family. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; sister, Anne (Harley) Venters; sons, Bill and wife, Patricia, and Charles; daughter, Nancy; and grandchildren, Dawn (Albert Settle), Mike, William and Mellissa. Dr. Liccione was laid to rest October 10, 2003 at The Southern AZ Veterans Memorial Cemetery Sierra Vista. It would honor him to have donations made to Casa de Los Ninos or Habitat for Humanity.
