Army, retired, Fairfield, Conn. ; Medical Department of the University of the City of New York, 1869; entered the Army as an assistant surgeon in 1874 and retired in 1910; veteran of the Spanish-American War ; president of the Army Medical School and in charge of the library and museum division of the medical department of the U. S. Army, 1906-1910; recalled to active duty in 1917 and ordered to Havana to reorganize the medical department of the Cuban army and navy, being relieved in 1923; author of "Manual of Military Hygiene" ; aged 81 ; died, Nov. 6, 1927, at sea, aboard the steamship Colombo, bound for Italy, of angina pectoris.
