Goldsmith, MD, of the Tulane University School of Medicine has received the University of Minnesota's Outstanding Achievement Award for "attaining distinction in her chosen field and demonstrating outstanding achievement on an international level." She has served as president of the American Institute of Nutrition, chairman of the Food and Nutrition Board of the National Research Council, and chairman of the Council on Foods and Nutrition of the American Medical Association. Goldsmith, professor of medicine and director of the nutrition and metabolism unit at Tulane, was one of two women and 33 men chosen for the honor from among 4,000 alumni of the University of Minnesota's Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research.
