Mentioned in the 4/9/1946 Minutes of the Pima County Medical Society, 1904-1954 (appears as Ellis): “Dr. Dixon asked Dr. Tappan to introduce Dr. Sydney Ellis [ Gellis ], ex-secretary [ i.e., Executive Secretary ] of the Youth Health Study in Arizona. He spoke a few words about the program.”

Gellis, has been appointed acting dean of Boston University's School of Medicine, according to "a joint announcement by University President Harold C. Case and Dr. Lewis H. Rohrbaugh, director of the Boston University Medical Center. Gellis succeeds Dr. Lamar Soutter who remains professor of surgery. A graduate of Harvard College and the Harvard Medical School, class of 1938, Dr. Gellis has been professor of pediatrics and chairman of the department of pediatrics at Boston University since 1956. He is also director of pediatrics at Boston City Hospital.

Gellis taught at all 3 medical schools in Boston, Mass, but was most closely associated with the Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts University's New England Medical Center, where he worked from 1965 until his official retirement in 2001….
