Former Tucson Physician Dies In California Dr. George E. Dodge, 72, Retired Here In 1923
Word has been received here of the death of Dr. George E. Dodge, 72, a former Tucson physician. Dr. Dodge died suddenly yesterday at his home in San Marino, Calif. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. tomorrow at Turner and Stevens mortuary in Pasadena. Dr. Dodge came to Tucson in 1909 and practiced medicine here until he retired in 1923. His office was at 108 North Stone avenue. He resided at one time on East Third street and later on East Speedway at the place where the boulevard bearing his name intersects the street. Born in Arkansas, a native of Little Rock, Ark., Dr. Dodge studied at the University of Tennessee. Following his graduation, he received his degree in medicine from the University of Virginia. After doing postgraduate work in Vienna, Dr. Dodge practiced in New York City for 12 years. He was on the medical staff of the hospital ship "Maine," and accompanied an expedition to South Africa during the Boer war.
