Military Salaries

Discussion of transfer or forced retirement of Joseph Atania Abate, teniente comandante of the presidio of San Carlos de Buenaviste in Sonora. Further mention of the removal and, or transfer of various officials within the Provincias Internas. Mention of delay in payment of salaries at the presidio of Santa Gertrudis de Altar. (M. Concerning salaries of various officials. Request for double salary for Vicente de Herrera for time served as interim capitan general. Similar salary recommendation for Joseph Antonio Rengel for work as interim comandante general. Vicente de Herrera acknowledged for excellent service in past positions, however found not suitable for position of comandante inspector de Provincias Internas. (M. Longo, oct.89

Regarding the recommendation for Manuel Merino to replace Pedro Garrido y Duran as secretaria de la comandancia. Garrido y Duran has been given an allowance of 3 mil pesos and is awaiting license to return to Spain; salaries of empleados en el real servicio, especially the secretaria de la comandancia; Orden of January 4, 1791 by Revilla Gigedo establishing salary for Manuel merino-apparently original order has been misplaced. Addresses decision whether or not Provincias Internas officials are eligible for pension from Monte Pio de ministro; I.e. due to low salaries, asesor, secretaria, etc. Unable to meet demands of 'descuento' necessary to qualify for Monte Pio. Folios 129-137 provide history of issue, citing reales Ordenes, decretos, etc. Virrey decrees 3-21-1791 that officials to be officers Merino and Matamoros died prior to re-incorporation, should widows receive compensation? To which Monte Pio should officers holding posts of both military and real hacienda make 'descuentos'? also, what to do in case of death of Garrido y Duran, who received two year 'licencia' to visit Spain but is collecting half salary.
