Summary
Gobernador Cruzat y Gongora convokes junta de guerra to deal with Apache problems. After receiving various opinions and plans, gobernador orders teniente Bernardo Bustamante to lead a detachment of soldiers from Santa Fe and Albuquerque, as well as some Indians from the pueblos, to locate Apache rancherias. The Apaches are to be advised to retire to own lands and to live at peace with Spanish and Indian neighbors if choose to communicate with them. (Raul Saba) (1980)

Summary
Auto de guerra and two accompanying letters of petition recounting attacks and destruction against Jicarilla Apaches by Cumanchas. The gobernador outlines the case against the Cumanchas and establishes a junta de guerra - the members of which give their opinions as to the initiation of a campaign against the Cumanchas. The majority are in favor of defending and avenging the Jicarillas, loyal vassals of the crown - though not yet christians. Important letter by Juan Paez Hurtado outlining danger of Cumanchas and their warlike history. Gobernador Bustamante orders campaign and appoints capitan Antonio Perez Velarde to lead it. Ms mentions Yutas are Allied with Cumanchas and there is fear of more alliances. (Raul Saba) (1980)
