Summary
Escandon writes to Mexico City to ask that land he has conquered be delineated so that people can begin raising animals. He gives the various landmarks which he considers the extent of his claim and asks that land be included in the delineation of use to animal raising because the condition of much of his land is not conducive to this activity. Report on efforts to reduce Conchos and Chinarras still hiding in the mountains. With offers of land, water and livestock as inducements and using Jesuits and Franciscans as negotiators. The Indians rejected the offer and began attacking settlements. Testimony on the veracity of this account of the start of the war follows. Includes Indian witnesses.
