Reyes trujillo returning after expedition against manta prieta with indian aid ojos Colorados, an indian attack against San Juan bauptista, group of six Apaches being followed by group of indians from Conchos, Apache indian attack in which two men were killed, primera compania Volante kills one Apache and recaptures livestock stolen, troops that escorted Ugarte y Loyola, communication from subdelegado de cosiguariachy advising Borica that in that jurisdiction forcing indians to work in the mines would be prohibited, gets a request from governors of satevo, yoquivo, and guapdaynas that they have their own religious administration because current system of using priests of Batopilas is unsatisfactory due to distances involved, Borica responds by sending letter stating he will look into the matter when he visits these areas and also sends copies of decrees on matters relating to the treatment of indians in missions; letter concerning the matter of indians working as servants in homes of hacendados without pay and prohibitions and circumstances that have led to these developments; letter discussing the points made by Lopez muato on mission and civil authority over indians in missions, what permission indians need in order to leave the pueblos, what kinds of punishments are to be applied to indians who miss mass purposely, policy on alcoholism and delinquency mentioned during religious service, regulations on travel restrictions on indians; travel diary from 2-27-1791 thru 3-13-1791; indian called tomas his history of escape and recapture, last instance of capture was at hands of indians of piedras bolas; travel diary from 3-14-1791 thru 3-28-1791, apprehension of prisoners banda, palacios, Castaneda, gertrudi. Francisco Xavier Goni purchased ship (San Judas Fadeo) in the canaries and sailed for Havanna then Ostiones with load and passengers. After leaving Havana ship sank. Only few crew lived and told what happened. Documents verify discovery of wreckage parts and auction of same. Ff.131 appears to quote laws concerning finding of unclaimed objects. Ship's Matricula, ff. 155-156. Wages paid for unearthing of wreck, ff.111-114. Possible document of boat purchase by Goni, ff.162-163. Steal some of the wreckage from beach and were killed. Request made for money for Goni's widow, Maria Hernandez Goni. Ff.204 contains verification of the Goni's marriage, names their parents. (S. Langmack September 1989)

Summary
Concerns letters from Cordero Ruiz and Amezua, asking government official to approve refund of money which was given to alcalde baes for military protection of real de Vallecillos. Series of autos and testimonies dealing with prosecution of Amezua and Cordero Ruiz, who are accused of illegal handling of stores and silver mines. Amezua was put in jail and got sick before testifying. Cordero Ruiz escaped from jail. Court reviews Cordero Ruiz and Amezua's claim of having businesses and silver mines. Reports by asesores, visitadores, regidores suggesting high; 2, spread of disease among cattle and sheep which causes hair to fall out; 3, sterility of seeds provided for planting; 4, Indian depredations; 5, Estanco de sales competes with local salt industry; 6, moral degeneration and lack of discipline of troops in Nuevo Santander. To deal with last problem, suggest payment in cash be terminated to prevent rampant gambling among troops. Repeat of accusations against Gonzalez Santianes that he has not done enough to prevent Indian attacks. Notes throughout state of poverty in Nuevo Santander, except for discovery of mineral de tamaulipa (?). Beginning folio 235, detailed lists of livestock stolen from inhabitants of Altamira between 1768 and 1772. Summary
Gonzalez Santianes defends himself against accusations of failing been a long history of Indian hostilities in the area dating long before his command. Contends that Indians in area have been reduced, but that they continually engage in robberies against missions because missionaries often renig on promises of payment for labor services, and otherwise mistreat Indians. Contends that frequency and level of raids under his administration have been exagerrated, and that all such acts have been adequately responded to with military force. (A. Tukey, July 1989)

Summary
Details and budgets of repairs on real carcel de Corte of real Sala del Crimen in Mexico by ingeniero Mascaro. Urgent repairs needed on dungeon and repair and enlargement of men's and women's prisons to avoid misconduct among inmates. Budget for dungeon prepared by Castera and funds approved by real hacienda. Ff. 25-27 good description of physical layout of surrounding area of carcel de Corte and types of people using the Callejon leading to entrance. Proximity to Alcalde's residence danger to official's families by criminals. Need for better security and cleanliness to instill good behavior in prisoners. Mascaro forcefully defends need for better social conditions for prisoners as well as welfare of officials. Ff. 29-31 budget of Mascaro for work on Alcalde's Palace, and prisions. Recommendations for solutions to problems, such as building new entrance to prisons. Series of documents on fiscal matters and royal ordances. Work began February 24 and concluded April 16, 1791.
