Summary
A criminal action against Bernabe Baca and his son Batasar for disobeying the orders of the Alcalde mayor de Alburquerque and the gobernador in regard to using Indians and the governor in regard to using Indians to care for their livestock, and their use of the pasturage which was reserved for the horse herd to be used in time of warfare against hostile Indians, and for the horses of the Indians. The governor had prohibited the use of Indians as sheperds, especially war captives who had been ransomed by the settlers, because of their tendency to run away to the hostile Indians. Ramon Garzia jurado (alcalde mayor of Bernalillo) accused of forcing indians to catch fish for him during holy week; other agricultural labors, spinning and weaving extacted without compensation. Fray Diego Espinosa of zia mission brings initial charges against Garzia after Garzia accuses him of inciting indians to disobedience, interference in state affairs, etc. Testimonies, accusations and counter-accusations. Offers some chronological indication of different gobernadores of zia and Santa ana. Garzia jurado ordered to pay indians for work done. Failure to do so ended in his arrest, jailing, and embargo on personal belongings. Continued contempt for Spanish justice and officials resulted in Garzia jurado's exile to pueblo of Zuni for two years. (raul saba) (1980)

Summary
Carta de poder by Antonio Valverde y Cosio (Former governor) (Alcalde mayor de El Paso) authorizing Bernardo Olivares to act in his behalf in presenting a Series of questions to witnesses appearing before general Juan Paez Hurtado in Santa Fe. All of this information is relative to a residencia of Valverde y Cosio and is in his favor (defense). Taken by Paez Hurtado, the interrogatorio presents particulars on the favorable reception and treatment given to Juan de Estrada y Austria (Juez) when he came in 1721 to conduct a residencia on the Former gobernadores from Vargas to Martinez. Testimony showed that the then gobernador Valverde y Cosio did not impede the residencia. Witnesses added that Estrada y Austria only conducted the residencia on Flores Mogollon. The originals of the entire proceedings were handed over to Bernardo de Olivares (Valverde's apoderado). (Raul Saba) (1980)
