In response to Chacon's report on Apache hostilities (July 18, 1799), Pedro de Nava criticizes the lack of determination and valor on the part of the Spaniards and Indian allies in their pursuit of the enemy. He urges the gobernador to encourage under threat of punishment a more valient effort by the Indians and settlers. (Raul Saba) (1980)

Cumanche general has reported to [Chacon] that two campaigns have been carried out against Apaches Lipanes and Mescaleros per order of Nava to governor Chacon on October 19, 1797. In summer are willing to carry out another punitive campaign. (Raul Saba) (1980)
