Summary
A Series of documents relative to the establishment of a presidio at the Valle de Xicarilla. The Xicarilla Apaches had told the governor (Bustamante) that they wished to embrace christianity etc. It was then recommended that a presidio and three missions be established in the Valley. Apparently the Xicarillas were seeking protection from the Cumanches. After some deliberation, it is recommended that the Xicarillas be moved to Taos, since the establishment of a new presidio would be expensive and would drain the resources of the presidios at Conchos and Casas Grandes.
