Summary
Maria de Benabides accuses Antonia de Moraga of slander; and Josepha Martin with assault, causing injury to her face, during an altercation that also involved Moraga and Xptobal Martin, both the parents of Josepha. The Alcalde mayor attempts to arrest them, but Moraga and Xptobal resist and insult the Alcalde, making derogatory remarks about his Indian race. He eventually subdues them and they are imprisoned. Pesos, and the costs of the suit, fourteen pesos. The fine and costs are paid, and the prisoners are released. (Lloyd Kendall) (1980)

Summary
Phelix Lujan is accused of habitually mistreating his wife with beatings and harsh words. He is arrested but escapes, and takes refuge in a church. The governor conducts an investigation which seems to establish Lujan's guilt. Then, the governor receives a petition from Lujan's wife, asking that her Husband be pardoned and allowed to reunite with her. The governor complies, pardoning Lujan, but with a stern warning that he mend his ways. (Lloyd Kendall) (1980)

Summary
Gonzales claims that he has been assaulted and insulted by Fernando Chavez and threatened with a shotgun by Francisco Chavez, one of Chavez' sons, at the instigation of his Father. And, on a later occasion, threatened by both of Chavez' sons, Francisco and Antonio, who accosted him, one with a sword, the other with a knife. On both of these occasions Gonzales says that his life was saved only by the intervention of other persons. He files a civil and criminal suit against Chavez and his sons. However, the set of folios is incomplete and the result of the proceedings is not given. (Lloyd Kendall) (1980)

Summary
Antonio Tafoya is found in a church near Santa Fe by Lorenzo de Madrid. Lorenzo de Madrid is under orders to obtain a testimony from Tafoya by Don Diego de Vargas. Tafoya says he discharged his arquebus because his horse moved from under him. A corporal takes the gun away and presents it to gobernador y capitan general. Tafoya says that only another soldier Diego Valasco was present and swears everything is true. On questioning Valasco they find that Tafoya had taken out his sword to fight with Ortega and Ortega pulls out arquebus which goes off. He does not know if it went off by chance or that he actually fired it on purpose. Valasco says he grabbed Tafoya's sword to put an end to this fight. He cannot swear to this by signing because he does not know how to write. (John Zilboorg) (1980)
