A letter from Gabriel de Villar to Juan Fernandez de Carrion in which the Former makes apologies for not having written regarding their mutual commercial interests before the date of of the letter. As explanation, Senor de Villar reports the roads have been closed and are full of enemies llenos de Enemigos). The letter was perhaps included as evidence of Indian ^abuses^ requiring the ^autos de guerra.^ (C. Needham) (1975)

A long, wordy, repetitious - and bitterly contested - estate settlement which contains considerable information regarding legal procedures, imprisonment for debt, slavery, social relations, etc. The highly complicated settlement involves officials of the province, the Audiencia, and even appeals to the king. Account books provide insight into economic, commercial, practices. Testimony is included from a large number of people interested in the case - family, debtors, creditors, and govt. Officials. (C. A complaint on the part of a ranch Owner concerning the insecure conditions on the road. Specifically, the rancher makes mention of the various impediments that the Indians (which he denominates Barrienos) have put in the way of his commerce. He asks for relief and penalty for such deprecations in the future. (C. Needham) (1975)

In response to the illegal sale of alcoholic beverages to Indians, Negroes and mulatos, a fine of 100 pesos is established and a threat to shut down any store involved. Apparently a wide-spread practice, causing trouble from drunken individuals. (T. Barnes) (1977)

Inspection of stores in the district resulting from complaints received about differing prices as Charged to different social classes, specifically, the price of bread as Charged to Spanish, Negroes, Mulattos and Indians.
