Cattle (Brands) (Licenses)

The viceroy verifies that Vaamonde (Alcalde mayor of Sayula) was authorized to give licencias de Fierros (cattle brand licences) to poor people in order to spare them the expenses of asking for them directly in Mexico. A local officer is called to declare who of the people holding licencias given by Vaamonde could be classified as poor. Then, a full list of all the holders of such licences and their place of residence is given, indicating those who are poor. A final report by comisionado Pradillo concludes that Vaamonde misused his faculties, giving licences to wealthy people and forcing poor people to sell their few animals to pay the corresponding Fee.
