Contains a blow-by-blow account of an altercation. This record of a case of assault is not likely to be of great interest except to historians of legal practices. It does contain some insight, however, into the liabilities of an Owner for the actions of a slave, in this case a mulato owned by Pedro Andrade. (C. Needham) (1975)

A rather trivial case, but one which might be used to illustrate the rather strict economic controls of the borderlands. The case concerns a merchant who failed to provide a public manifest of the merchandise sold in his store. Various witnesses testify that the store was open illegally and the merchant himself is questioned. Being able to provide no real defense- beyond affirming that he was unaware of the law - the merchant is fined and assessed legal costs.
