A relatively detailed ethnohistory of Julimeno Indians in Coahuila; Ugarte argues they should be deported to Havana; provides many comments on Julimeno origins, movement into province from Nueva Vizcaya (1737), and subsequent interaction with Spaniards; few details on Indian lifeways have been included; most comments focus on Julimenos secret hostility towards Spaniards, locations of their communities, and their alliance with hostile Apaches; other information provided on Apache raids and population distributions on province's frontiers. Exploration of areas along Gila and Colorado rivers by fray Garces who affirms peoples are of same language and physical build but have become separate due to wars. Affirms Opas better at agriculture than Yumas. Describes best places to establish missions. Arrives at lagoon where Talchedunes have large settlement near Colorado River. Describes seed named equiesa which is utilized to make bread and atole. Garces sends letter to missions in New Mexico with old yabapai hoping it will arrive one day. Series of letters from Garza Falcon concerning various presidial matters in region, including Texas. Discusses number of troops at different presidios, troubles with Indians (theft, murder), and efforts to punish Indians and defend against them. Oca put in charge of San Sabas. Garza requests that soldiers sent to Bexar be returned to San Sabas to help in defense against Indians. Inventory of supplies and official papers at Sa Sabas. Summary
Series of letters and reports concerning Indian prisoners and escape of group of them. Pacheco reports on arrival of Indian prisoners at Saltillo, condition of captivity, number of prisoners, and transfer of women prisoners to Rio Grande presidio as ordered. Also recounts in detail escape of prisoners and attempt to recapture them. Series of reports written by Scribe I name of Pacheco attesting to escape and efforts made to recapture prisoners.
